LORD OF THE BONE

Dreiteiliges Solowerk für Tenorposaune mit Quartventil. Der schwungvolle erste Teil erinnert an irische Folklore (River Dance Stil), wobei das anfangs schlicht vorgestellte Thema mehr und mehr verdichtet wird und auch einige Dudelsackzitate nicht fehlen. Der zweite Teil (wahlweise mit Cup Dämpfer) erscheint in der Form eines langsamen Blues und geht in den letzten, bläserisch anspruchsvollen „funky“ Teil über. Das Werk endet mit einem poco a poco accelerando, wobei der Solist - je nach Virtuosität - die Endgeschwindigkeit selbst bestimmt.

A three part solo work for tenor trombone with F-attachment. The stylish first part is reminscent of an Irish folk piece (a la River Dance). As the piece progresses the simple theme becomes increasingly complex. Even the odd bagpipe quote manages to work its way in. The second part, optionally done with cup mute, is in the form of a slow blues, seguing into the last and technically more challenging "funky" part of the piece. The piece ends with a poco a poco accelerando. The musician can determine the final tempo according to his/her own abilities.
